We loved chatting to James Tunnard, creator of Radius. His stunning design for this sculptural seat left us breathless and not just because we had walked up a hill to get there!
Made from locally sourced oak, Radius invites you to sit and relax within its undulating curves and look out into the surrounding hills.

A visit to Radius gives you the opportunity to drink in the stunning views across Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, Box Hill and beyond.

Views programme is an
important element of
the estate's work.
Mole Valley Poets meet monthly to celebrate different aspects of poetry and encourage members with their own writing.
Members were invited to create Haikus inspired by the natural surroundings. These were engraved onto Radius along with inscriptions from members of the public.

Once you make one home you'll get the 'bug' and want to design a whole miniature village of habitats to welcome visitors from near and far.

James Tunnard was commissioned to create Radius and the project is co-financed by the European Union.
Radius is part of The Inspiring Views project that restores hidden viewpoints across the Surrey Hills, improving access and celebrating these views through innovative, sculptural seating.

We had the great pleasure to witness a unique and collaborative video work created by choreographer Rosemary Lee and filmmaker Roswitha Chesher. The seven-screen video installation, called Orchard Portraits, showcases senior performers and primary school children.
This inspiring piece of work was shot in the historic wild orchard at West Horsley Place. Rosemary and Roswithea shared with us their creative process behind the making of this extraordinary installation.

Located in a stunning 380-acre estate, West Horsley Place is a charming destination just a mile's walk from the train station. Visitors can take tours of the house and estate and enjoy talks and exhibitions throughout the year.
Clare Clinton Arts, Heritage and Learning Manager tells us more about West Horsley Place and why she was keen to be involved in Orchard Portraits.
We also meet Matt Link who gives us a tour of the ancient Orchard, he’s the man you need with you to identify the fruits of each tree.
Senior Performers included Helen Scalway and Jim Tucker and children from The Raleigh School.
